This is our mid-season report on the status of the Agri-Nature Center Dahlia projects. These projects would not be possible without the vision of master gardener Bill Shen.

Dahlia Pooh
The state of the community garden is good. Some plants have bloomed. We can expect vigorous growth in August.
Rain begets weeds, but they are under control. Master Gardener Bill Shen and I have been weeding on Thursdays and will continue for the rest of the season.

Lavender Field

Dahlia Harvey Koop
While planting the lavender field dahlias a Hollyhock was growing mid-row. No one had the heart to pull it up, thus it stands today.
Surprisingly, a Harvey Koop dahlia tuberĀ survived the winter, grew and blossomed. The dahlias planted this year are expected to bloom later in the season.
The lavender field row is being weeded on Thursday too.
