NMDS Classe At Argi-Nature Center

Event Gallery

On Saturday, September 13, 2025 eleven members of the NMDS met at the Agri-Nature Center to see the dahlias growing there, learn about showing them, and taking their pictures. Gil Quintana gave tips on taking pictures of flowers up close and how to use a flash. Edith Iwan gave tips on preparing dahlias to show: debudding, removing excess foliage but leave the central leaves, and how to place the flower. She also showed how a three bloom display should look for showing.

If you missed the demonstration, there will be help at the Dahlia Show. Bring your flowers, debudded with the main leaves on the stem attached. Please bring the name of the flowers. Without a name the flower cannot be judged. Also, come early. Seven o’clock is not too early. It takes time to get each flower placed and the entry card fill out. The flowers have to be on the exhibit table at 10:00 am! The east gate to the building will be open so you can bring your flowers directly to the “prep” room. People will be available if you need help. Stay and join the fun of preparation or return after the judging at 1:00 pm when the Dahlia Festival starts.
